Zhuang Brocade-Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage

Zhuang brocade is a characteristic hand-woven brocade of the Zhuang ethnic group in China. It has bright colors, rough style, and extremely ethnic characteristics, and is widely used by the Zhuang people. Zhuang brocade, together with Yun brocade, Shu brocade and Song brocade, is known as the four famous brocades in China. It is said to have originated in the Song Dynasty and is a national cultural treasure of Guangxi. Zhuang brocade is mainly made of cotton thread or linen thread, which is interwoven with a hand loom according to the warp and weft plain weave to make the base fabric. Colored weft is made of silk thread and woven into the pattern. The colored weft can form a symmetrical pattern on the front and back of the base fabric and completely cover the base fabric. Xincheng County is one of the origins of Zhuang Brocade in Guangxi. It has a long history and profound cultural heritage.It was once presented to the imperial palace as a tribute.
